Our Story & Mission
Rangla KC was founded in 2022 by Surinder Pal Kaur, who envisioned creating a space where Punjabi traditions could flourish and bring people together. It all began with the Teeyan Da Mela, an event dedicated to celebrating women and honoring their invaluable contributions to our community and culture. Rooted in the rich traditions of Punjab, Teeyan Da Mela became an instant success, drawing immense love and support from the Kansas City community.
What started as a single event has since grown into Rangla KC, a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and promoting Punjabi heritage. Inspired by the enthusiasm of those who participated and the connections it fostered, Rangla KC expanded its mission to include year-round events and initiatives. These efforts celebrate Punjabi culture, provide a platform for intergenerational connection, and ensure the traditions of our ancestors thrive for generations to come.
Through Rangla KC, we aim to build a vibrant, inclusive community that embraces diversity, fosters unity, and honors the beauty of our shared heritage.
Our Three Pillars
-
Honoring our Roots & Traditions
We celebrate and honor the rich heritage of our ancestors by preserving and sharing the vibrant traditions, customs, and stories that have been passed down through generations. Virsa connects us to our past and strengthens our community today.
-
Bridging Generations & Building Connection
Rangla KC brings together young and old to celebrate shared experiences, wisdom, and cultural pride. Through storytelling, traditions, and intergenerational connections, we ensure that Punjabi heritage is passed down and thrives across generations.
-
Keeping Punjabi Virsa Alive
In the diaspora, it’s more important than ever to keep our Punjabi culture alive and thriving. Through dynamic events, engaging activities, and educational initiatives, Rangla KC ensures that our traditions, language, and spirit remain strong and vibrant no matter where we are.
